How Telltale collects, uses and protects personal data, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

This policy explains how Telltale (“Telltale”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit our website, reserve a founding membership, join our waitlist, or use our service once it launches. We are committed to handling your data lawfully, transparently and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Telltale is a service operated by Oliver Tuck Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15304467, with its registered office at Belmont Suite, Paragon Business Park, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Bolton, England, BL6 6HG.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controllerfor the personal data described in this policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration reference [ICO registration number].
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us at hello@trytelltale.com.
Telltale's core function is to read and organise information from official UK public records. As part of this, we process information about companies and the people connected to them, including some personal data of company directors and officers — for example a director's name, role, appointment date and the company they are associated with.
This information comes only from official, publicly available sources:
We do not scrape private sites or buy grey-market data. Our lawful basis for processing this public-record personal data is our legitimate interests (and those of our business customers) in providing a tool that surfaces relevant, timely business information — balanced against the rights of the individuals concerned, who are listed in these registers in their professional capacity. If you are an individual named in these registers and wish to object to our processing, see section 8.
We use personal data for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under the UK GDPR:
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers (“processors”) who help us run Telltale, and only as needed:
Each processor is bound by a contract requiring them to protect your data and use it only on our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as the UK's adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses), so your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it. Account and reservation data is kept while your account or reservation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Payment and transaction records are kept for at least six years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Public-register data is refreshed from source and retained while it remains relevant to the service.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@trytelltale.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge, and we may need to verify your identity first.
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Essential cookies are always on; analytics and non-essential cookies are set only where permitted. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where shown, through our cookie banner.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and using reputable providers such as Stripe for payments. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the ICO of a breach where we are required to.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email. This policy is currently at version 1.0.
